Caterpillar recently introduced two new electric
counterbalance forklifts ranges: the 48V and 80V EP ranges, which cover three- and four-wheel forklifts capable of handling between 1.3 tons and 5 tons.
The vehicles are marked by their smooth operation, which is
designed to give operators touch power steering to operate the forklifts with half of the
effort required by more conventional equipment. The smooth operation also
includes a feedback feature, allowing for enhanced accuracy.
Caterpillar has
also updated driver comfort in the new models through measures like a large,
flat and neat floor space, a large and rounded visibility and a seat designed
for comfort.
The new forklifts also include improved safety measures such as the Integrated Presence System (IPS), which prevents the forklift
from moving without a seated driver and warns drivers to use the parking
brake and seat belt. The IPS also prevents the forklifts from rolling
backwards while travelling uphill on an incline.
The 48V and 80V EP ranges are optimized for quiet
performance, with the average noise level for the vehicle below 67 decibels, which is about the level of a normal conversation.
