Varna Airport is gearing up for a robust summer season with an expanded route network and increased flight frequencies. The airport aims to strengthen its position as a key aviation hub in the region, offering enhanced opportunities for both business and leisure travel.
Wizz Air, a low-cost carrier, is introducing a new route between Abu Dhabi and Varna, tapping into the Middle Eastern market. The airline will also base a second aircraft in Varna and resume flights to Frankfurt Hahn, Nuremberg, and Tel Aviv from April 14. Additionally, Wizz Air will launch a twice-weekly year-round service to Leipzig starting April 29.
Bulgaria Air will commence direct flights between Varna and Paris Charles de Gaulle on April 17. The national carrier is also increasing domestic flights between Varna and Sofia from 18 to 23 per week. In June, Bulgaria Air plans to resume services to Frankfurt and Prague.
Other airlines are also expanding their operations at Varna Airport. Transavia France will offer weekly flights between Paris Orly and Varna from May 9 through October. Volotea resumes routes from Nantes and Lille on April 8. Discover Airlines will increase its Frankfurt service frequency in May and restart its Munich route by the end of April.
Turkish Airlines is set to increase flights to Istanbul, while Austrian Airlines will operate more frequent services to Vienna during the summer months. Air Serbia will enhance its Belgrade-Varna connection in July, and SAS Scandinavian Airlines will introduce new flights from Copenhagen on June 26.
Ryanair plans to resume Vienna services on March 31 and add Krakow and Katowice routes in June.
The charter flight program at Varna Airport anticipates growth in several markets:
- German charter flights begin May 16 via Electra Airways with SunExpress.
- Austrian Senioren Reisen returns with charters from Linz and Salzburg.
- Charter services from Poland, Czech Republic, Scandinavia start late May/early June.
- Edelweiss Air doubles Zurich-Varna frequency this summer.
