Greek earnings on travel into the country were up significantly in December compared to the same month in 2015.
Travel earnings increased to $58.2 million in December 2016, compared to $5.29 million in December 2015,
according to a press release from the Bank of Greece
The profits came from a 15.6 percent increase in travel into Greece, with travel costs down 9.4 percent on average.
For the year as a whole, however, travel receipts of $11.86 million last year were slightly less than 2015's figure of $12.8 million, due to an 11 percent drop in spending per trip.
Meanwhile, 564,000 inbound travelers visited Greece in December 2016, for an increase of 15.6 percent compared to 2015.
