Croatia Airlines has announced its collaboration with the Zagreb Tourist Board to promote Zagreb as a pet-friendly destination. This initiative will run through November and December, offering various benefits to pet owners traveling with Croatia Airlines.

During this period, passengers can expect an increase in the number of pets allowed in the cabin, with three pets (dogs or cats) permitted per flight instead of the usual two. Pet owners will also receive a 20% discount on pet transport services. Additionally, special package deals are available for travelers from Obzor Holidays’ emissive markets. These packages include airfare, accommodation at one of Zagreb’s four pet-friendly hotels for 2-4 days, and airport transfers for both owners and their pets.

Jasmin Bajić, CEO of Croatia Airlines, explained the motivation behind this partnership: “Pet owners represent an increasingly significant segment of travellers, whose specific behaviours, needs and expectations shape the travel market in unique ways. Thanks to its numerous green spaces, pet-friendly facilities, and welcoming atmosphere for pets, Zagreb is a place where pets can enjoy the city alongside their owners.”

The global pet travel market has expanded significantly in recent years due to increased awareness of pets as family members. More than half of European households now own a pet. The Zagreb Tourist Board has responded to these trends by launching a specialized website that consolidates information about Zagreb’s pet-friendly amenities.

Martina Bienenfeld, CEO at the Zagreb Tourist Board stated: “Earlier this spring, the Zagreb Tourist Board launched a promotional campaign and specialised website…because we know that travelling with pets requires a lot of detailed planning. Studies show that more than 50% of travellers worldwide take their pets on holiday.”
