Fraport Twin Star Airport Management has introduced a new direct year-round route from Varna to Abu Dhabi, marking the first such connection to the UAE in Varna Airport’s history. This development was presented at an event on January 29, 2025, in Varna Airport’s VIP area.

The presentation attracted over 50 attendees from various sectors, including tourism and business. Key figures at the event included His Excellency Abdulrahman Ahmed Aljaber, Ambassador of the UAE to Bulgaria; Blagomir Kotsev, Mayor of Varna; and Snezhana Apostolova, Deputy Mayor of Varna. Dr. Frank Quante, CEO of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, highlighted the significance of this route for airport development and described it as the longest direct flight offered by “The Airport of Roses.”

Denitsa Milosavljevic, Head of Aviation Business Development at Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, spoke about the opportunities this flight offers for tourism and business. The cooperation with airlines that made this route possible was also emphasized.

Flights between Varna and Abu Dhabi are scheduled to commence on March 31, 2025. Operated by Wizz Air, these flights will run three times a week. The Varna-Abu Dhabi route is one of 13 routes Wizz Air will manage from or to Varna Airport during the summer season.

Dr. Frank Quante expressed enthusiasm about the new route’s potential impact on Bulgaria’s tourism sector: „The start of the Varna-Abu Dhabi route by Wizz Air is a great opportunity to open a new chapter for the tourist sector at the Bulgarian Black Sea. The marketing of Bulgaria as a tourist destination in the United Arab Emirates is key to success.”

Varna Airport anticipates welcoming international passengers with its comprehensive flight program in 2025.
