For the first time, Varna Airport will offer direct flights from Abu Dhabi starting March 31, 2025. This development is part of a broader expansion by Wizz Air, which includes four new routes and an additional aircraft based at the airport.

The new routes include flights to Frankfurt-Hahn and Nuremberg in Germany, as well as Tel Aviv in Israel. Flights to Frankfurt-Hahn and Nuremberg will operate three times a week, while those to Tel Aviv will run four times weekly.

Wizz Air’s expansion at Varna Airport is facilitated by adding another Airbus aircraft in spring 2025. This move increases the number of aircraft based at Varna to two and boosts capacity by over 400,000 seats for the year—a 90% increase compared to 2024.

Dr. Frank Quante, CEO of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, highlighted the importance of this growth for Varna’s connectivity: “The return of the second-based aircraft is very important for the connectivity of Varna! Thanks to Wizz Air for the very good collaboration!” He also emphasized that improvements in Bulgaria’s visa process with the United Arab Emirates are crucial for success.

Ms. Denitsa Milosavljevic, Head of Aviation Business Development at Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, expressed satisfaction with their partnership with Wizz Air: “We are happy to have excellent cooperation with the Wizz Air team and to share a common vision for the development of connectivity in the region.”

Varna Airport aims to maintain its high service quality as it prepares for increased passenger traffic due to these new developments.
