UniCredit Foundation’s Gift Matching Program, which matches contributions from UniCredit employees to non-profit organizations, resulted in more than $2.6 million donated from 15 countries last year.

The Gift Matching Program, an annual initiative, encourages employees to support work projects set up by nonprofits, according to a press release on the UniCredit website. UniCredit Foundation matches the amount raised by the employees.

Last year, the effort totaled 11,000 donations that benefited 449 projects.  The Gift Matching Program has supported more than 5,000 projects since 2003.

“The UniCredit staff continue to demonstrate their commitment and their spirit of solidarity,” Maurizio Carrara, chairman of UniCredit Foundation said in a release. “By supporting the work of non-profit organizations across the globe, they are contributing to a society which is alive, productive and, perhaps most importantly, united. For this reason, for 14 years, we have been supporting worthwhile organizations which first and foremost demonstrate their belief in such a society, working to achieve results that are important for everybody.”
