Sofia University recently announced the winners of its 2017 Jill Mellick Creative Expression awards: Micah Linton, Diane Lucille Meyer and Elisa Sciscioli.
The awards are named in honor of the founder of the university’s creative expression program, Jill Mellick, who also helped found the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA), according to a release from the university. Mellick was an influential artist, writer, educator and therapist, and her work is still important in those fields today.
Linton graduated from Sofia University in 2015 with a master’s degree in transpersonal psychology. He has previously worked to create art for video games, children’s books and graphic novels, and his work is inspired the by the development of inner knowing and therefore self-awareness.
Meyer graduated from the university in 2013 with a doctorate in psychology. She specializes in watercolor paintings and enjoys working with other artists to help them find the internal culture in their work.
Sciscioli earned her master’s degree in transpersonal psychology from the university in 2014 and expresses her creativity through music. She works with musicians through private lessons and workshops, including her Joy of Group Singing workshop series for adults. She is also a soul singer and songwriter.
