In a show of gratitude, executives from the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA), Greece’s largest seaport, are greeting the arrivals of the passenger cruise ships stopping at the port during the first week of the new year.

The Blue Star Delos, the first passenger vessel visiting the port in 2017, was celebrated by the leaders with an “honorary plaque and gifts,” according to a press release.

“At your face, we honor the Greek seamen who daily struggle in difficult conditions and contribute to the development of the country,” A. Liagkos, PPA board member and management consultant, said.

The welcoming committee was also scheduled to meet the Costa Luminosa ship, which is “the first cruise ship to call the Piraeus port in 2017,” the release mentioned.
