In anticipation of the Day of the Republic tomorrow, Jan. 9, Serb
Republic Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic recently participated in a
reception coordinated by Milorad Dodik, president of the Serb Republic, in Banja
Luka.

Along with government ministers, National Assembly delegates
and representatives of the Serb Republic’s Council of Peoples, Cvijanovic
joined the president as well as stakeholders from several affiliated government
institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

Representatives attended from the Constitutional Court and
judiciary; the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Defense of BiH; and the
Serb Republic’s Academy of Arts and Sciences to participate in the celebration
in the Presidential Palace.

Additionally, associations of veterans, retired military
generals and republic founders were on hand to celebrate, including a delegation
of the Association of National Minorities of the Serb Republic.

Prime Minister Cvijanovic served as minister of economic
relations and regional cooperation in the republic’s previous government.

Dodik also honored the republic’s students, publishers,
athletes and scientists at the occasion with additional receptions at the
palace.

The Day of the Republic commemorates the establishment of
the Serb Republic on Jan. 9, 1992. This year marks the republic’s 25th
anniversary. Jan. 9 is also the Orthodox feast day in honor of St. Stephen.
