Security software firm Bitdefender has boosted its footprint in France with the largest acquisition of its 15-year history.

The Bucharest, Romania-headquartered firm has acquired Profil Technology for an undisclosed amount.

This acquisition will add to the company’s presence in France — which is already among the leading three markets in Europe and top five in the world for Bitdefender — Marius Buterchi, head of the company’s consumer public relations division, told the Balkan Business Wire.

“We’re committed to invest more resources to accelerate our growth of this territory both in the consumer and enterprise segments,” Buterchi said. “France will represent close to 10 percent of Bitdefender’s overall revenue. Bitdefender currently has a 30 percent market share in the retail segment and around 10 percent overall market share in the consumer security space.”

The goal of the company is to reach a plus 20 percent market share in three years in the consumer sector, and a 10 percent overall market share over the same period.

Bitdefender plans to invest in teams and resources to grow the enterprise business rapidly and to maintain consumer growth in the French market by increasing the online reach, the company stated.

The company said it has tripled its enterprise sales over the past three years and won the trust of major clients seeking to secure hybrid infrastructures.

In 2016 alone, Bitdefender established a presence in Italy and Sweden. This represents an expansion strategy that leverages the world’s largest security delivery infrastructure into a significant global presence.

“The acquisition decisions of these companies are usually taken to bring Bitdefender closer to its channel partners and customers and to accelerate the company’s growth in key markets where the company has no direct presence,” Buterchi said. “Bitdefender’s business model includes operating in some markets through exclusive partners, responsible for all sales and marketing activities of the Bitdefender portfolio.”

The company’s partner network membership has more than doubled in the past two years.

Bitdefender’s GravityZone line of endpoint security solutions is able to predict, prevent, evade, detect and remediate unknown threats as well as protect organizations from advanced and targeted attacks. It is powered by a patented machine learning technology, GravityZone.

Bitdefender is a global security technology company that provides cybersecurity solutions to more than 500 million users across businesses and homes in over 150 countries.

Since 2001, Bitdefender has consistently produced award-winning business and consumer security technology. It is a provider of premium quality and choice in both hybrid infrastructure security and advanced threat defense systems.
