The President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), Mihai Daraban, met with representatives from The Heritage Foundation on September 9 in Bucharest to discuss ways to strengthen the Romanian-American partnership in economic development at both national and regional levels.
A key focus of the meeting was the development and increased interconnection of the Port of Constanța. Discussions addressed its potential role as a strategic hub serving European, Asian, and Middle Eastern markets. The participants also explored opportunities for investment aimed at modernizing and expanding port infrastructure.
Mihai Daraban emphasized the significance of these talks: “The meeting with Heritage Foundation representatives marks an important moment for the economic development of our region. I was impressed by the American partners’ interest in the development and modernization of the Port of Constanța, as well as in the navigable Danube. The Port of Constanța represents Romania’s gateway to the global maritime world, and its potential for development and regional interconnection is immense. Through dialogue with strategic partners like The Heritage Foundation, we can build a common vision for the development of these vital economic corridors, which will benefit not only Romania but the entire Southeast European region. This Romanian-American partnership on the internal and regional economic component represents an important step toward consolidating our geostrategic position and creating new opportunities for sustainable economic development,” stated CCIR President Mr. Mihai Daraban.
