The Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) was represented at the 135th General Assembly of Eurochambres, held on June 12, 2025, in Malmö, Sweden. The event brought together representatives from chambers of commerce across Europe to discuss current economic issues affecting business communities.
Ovidiu Silaghi, General Secretary of CCIR, attended the assembly. He highlighted the significance of CCIR’s engagement in European decision-making processes. “CCIR is actively involved in strengthening the influence of the European business environment on improving the decision-making mechanisms of European institutions. We support increasing cohesion within the EU and reducing centrifugal movements of community dissolution. Additionally, CCIR wishes to become once again an active partner for national authorities, as the main vector for promoting the interests of the business community in Romania, with the aim of identifying realistic solutions for reducing the country’s financial deficits,” said Silaghi.
Eurochambres currently represents more than 20 million businesses through its network that includes 45 members—43 national chamber organizations and two transnational chambers—and a total of 1,700 local and regional chambers throughout Europe. The majority—over 93%—of these enterprises are small and medium-sized businesses.
CCIR’s participation underscores its ongoing role in shaping dialogue between European Union member states and international partners such as the United States.
