Pence, Juncker affirm US-EU cooperation during meeting

Vice President Mike Pence visited European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels this week to discuss relations between the European Union and the United States.

Juncker stressed the importance of a strong connection between the EU and the U.S. to ensure global stability.

The pair affirmed mutual interests and cooperation, especially terrorism, security, dealing with migration issues and common values, according to a report on the European Commission website.

“Good transatlantic relations are not only the logical consequence of history but also a necessity for the future,

Juncker said. “The world needs the U.S. and Europe to be partners.”

The two parties also discussed commercial relationships. Juncker noted that the EU offers great potential to help U.S. companies create jobs and economic growth in the states.
