Over 500 people attended the sixth Individual Investors Forum, organized by the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), to learn more about investing and managing personal finances.

“People came in large numbers to this event as a result of the constant BVB effort to increase the activity of individual investors,”

BVB’s CEO Ludwik Sobolewski said in a press release. “The Romanians show more and more interest in how to manage the personal finances and in how to invest in the stock market. We are happy as BVB managed to set new benchmarks when it comes to improving the financial literacy rate in Romania.”

BVB’s Chairman Lucian Anghel attributes the forum’s success in large part to the exchange’s previous initiatives.

“The success we are witnessing now is not a chance, and did not happen overnight,” Anghel said in the release. “This success was due to several other financial education projects we had conducted during the last years. Projects such as Condus de Randament, Leii BVB and the Individual Investors Forum are just some of the initiatives we have initiated exclusively for retail investors and now we see them growing in number and interest towards the capital market.”

At the event, attendees were invited to name their investment objectives while speakers discussed potential yields, strategies and this year’s popular investment options. Speakers also covered winning strategies used by some investment firms.

The second part of the event split up guests into sections for beginners or advanced investors. A seminar taught new investors about how the capital market works.
