The 23rd edition of the National Wine Day is set to take place on October 5 and 6 at the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in Chisinau, Moldova, featuring approximately 100 native wine producers.

‘’No matter where we go, everywhere people speak about Moldova as about a country producing highly qualitative wines and this is due to the work of our wine producers,” Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea said. “There is a huge work behind the wine. The Wine Festival is a unique event in the world.”

The festival’s format has been revamped, with an expanded area for the gastronomic zone located along Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, between Metropolitan Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni and Maria Cebotari Streets. Admission to PMAN will be free, though attendees wishing to participate in tastings will need to purchase a Taster’s Card.

Bolea also announced that he had invited the European Commissioner for Agriculture and agriculture ministers from Romania and the Baltic States to attend the festival.

Stefan Iamandi, director of the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), expressed excitement about the event, noting that Chisinau will transform into a “town of wine,” attracting thousands of wine enthusiasts. This year’s festival introduces a new slogan, “Wine of Moldova. Unexpectedly Great,” aimed at highlighting the blend of tradition and innovation in the country’s wine industry.

With 99 winemakers already registered—an all-time high—Iamandi expects participation numbers to exceed 100 as registration continues. “This growth reflects the development and potential of the vine-growing and wine-making sector in Moldova,” he added.

Moldova ranks among the top 20 wine-producing countries globally, with over 2% of the world’s vineyards and wines being exported to more than 70 countries.

To further promote the festival, passengers arriving at Chisinau International Airport on October 5 and 6 will receive a complimentary bottle of wine along with an invitation to the National Wine Day.
