Ljubljana Airport has reached a significant milestone by welcoming its millionth passenger of 2025 on a KLM flight to Amsterdam. This achievement comes several weeks earlier than in the previous year, signaling growth in passenger numbers and expanded connectivity at the airport.
To celebrate, all passengers on the flight received a sweet treat, while the millionth traveler was given two KLM tickets to Amsterdam and participated in a photo opportunity with the cabin crew before departure.
“We are delighted to welcome Ljubljana Airport’s 1,000,000th passenger this year on KLM. Since launching our Amsterdam-Ljubljana route in March, we’ve expanded travel options and flexibility for our customers. With Air France-KLM’s network of 300 destinations, travelers enjoy seamless global connections. We’re pleased to announce this route will continue throughout the winter season, ensuring year-round service,” said Razvan Radut, Country Sales Manager Air France and KLM.
“We are happy and proud to have welcomed our millionth passenger earlier than last year, which reflects Ljubljana Airport’s continued growth and the increasing trust of passengers in our services. With a record number of scheduled airlines this summer season, a wide selection of scheduled and charter destinations, and upcoming direct flights to Las Palmas, Manchester, and Barcelona, we expect to successfully serve more than 1.5 million passengers by the end of the year,” highlighted Janez Krašnja, Head of Airline Management at Fraport Slovenija.
The most popular destinations from Ljubljana Airport up until mid-August 2025 included Istanbul, London, Frankfurt, Zurich for scheduled flights. For charter flights, travelers frequently chose Hurghada, Antalya, Tunisia, Rhodes and Sharm el Sheikh.
Between January and July 2025 alone, over 870,000 passengers used Ljubljana Airport—a seven percent increase compared to the same period last year. The airport projects it will handle just over 1.5 million travelers by year’s end.
Looking ahead to the winter schedule from late October 2025 through March 2026, three new direct routes are planned: airBaltic will launch flights from Ljubljana to Gran Canaria; easyJet will add Manchester alongside its London service; Vueling will begin direct flights from Ljubljana to Barcelona starting late November.
