IBM is offering a pro bono Corporate Service Corps (CSC) to support higher education, science, diversity and economic development in Romania.
This is the sixth time the CSC has gone to Romania, according to a press release from IBM. The corps helps support communities around the world
The 12-member CSC team includes IBM employees from the United States, Australia, Peru, Philippines, Japan, India, Costa Rica and Taiwan. The group will spend a month in Romania, making recommendations to local organizations.
IBM will work with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Targu Mures to help develop teaching and research projects involving the internet of things and high-performance computing. At Petru Maior University Targu Mures, the team will make suggestions about building a regional high performance computing center to support cutting-edge research. The CSC team will also help the nonprofit Divers Association expand its Women’s Academy project. The Divers Association promotes diversity and equal opportunities.
In addition, the CSC crew will help East European Institute for Reproductive Health develop an outreach plan to improve the lives of people potentially targeted by violence.
By the end of this year, the CSC will have sent 3,500 IBM employees to nearly 40 countries, according to the release.
