The Greek government will soon require certain business sectors to complete transactions electronically with point-of-sale (POS) terminals in an effort to curb VAT tax evasion.
The report was published in Avgi, a daily newspaper affiliated with the Syriza party.
The published report lists the following sectors that will be the first to require POS transactions: restaurants, cafes and bars; repairs by craftsmen; private school tuition; language and learning institutes; apparel shops; lease payments; beauty salons; gyms; legal and medical services; telecom services and utilities; and gaming businesses.
According to the report, this first wave of requirements will go into effect in June.
