Food origins startup OriginTrail wins Audience Award at global competition

OriginTrail, a Slovenian-Serbian startup that helps consumers learn the origins of their organic food products, recently

won the Audience Award at the Food + City competition in Austin, Texas.

The startup was one of 18 finalists from nine countries competing at the event, which was based on innovations in the food marketplace.

The Food + City Challenge Prize encourages entrepreneurs to build businesses that find ways to efficiently bring healthier food to more people around the world.

OriginTrail offers users a way to find out the origin of organic products on store shelves, showing information about the product and how it travels from farm to shelf. It also offers a chance to read customer feedback about the products.

OriginTrail also won the Belgrade Venture Forum in 2014.
