A new report from Research and Markets is providing details on the market for a major Mediterranean staple and a big Greek export.

The Global Feta 2017 report has information about the international sale of feta cheese, a crumbly, soft type of sheep’s milk cheese that’s a favorite on salads and other dishes in Mediterranean cuisine.

In the report, for which Research and Markets partnered with Proteus Insight, purchasers can find information on 130 markets, along with manufacturer supply details and categories for artisanal and larger scale production. The Global Feta 2017 report also covers data on different types of packaging, including feta cheese packaged in cartons, cans or tins, glass jars, plastic tubs and vacuum-packed packages.

Forecasts for feta cheese markets extend to 2022, which can be helpful for a long-term analysis of feta within broader markets.

In addition, the report also makes a distinction between feta cheese with a European Union designation, which is produced in Greece, and feta cheese produced in other countries such as Israel, Turkey, Canada, South Africa, Australia and the U.S., where E.U. regulations do not apply.

The report says that in these other markets, ratios of sheep’s milk and cow’s milk may differ.

Contacting Research and Markets for insight into the report, Balkan Business Wire found that it’s not possible to obtain basic findings without purchasing the document.

“It’s all sensitive information,” Neil Noone, Research and Markets customer service representative, told Balkan Business Wire.

Noone said the report will be valuable to those who want to understand what’s really happening within the market.

“It’s people who are in the market looking for key drivers,” Noone said, describing some of the report’s utility. “What are the biggest changes?”

Noone said users of the report will be able to look at the sale of feta cheese in particular Balkan nations, including Greece, but also other feta exporters such as Bulgaria.

“(The Balkan feta cheese makers) are covered in the report,” Noone said.
