The European Central Bank Governing Council recently allowed a request from the Bank of Greece to set the emergency liquidity
assistance ceiling for Greek banks at $49.73 billion.

The new ceiling, which will be in place through Feb. 1, comes as Greek banks move into a more stable liquidity situation. The
country’s current banking environment is less uncertain and boasts a more
stable flow of private sector deposits than in the recent past.
