The upcoming winter season will bring expanded low-cost flight options from Ljubljana Airport. easyJet, a prominent airline, is launching a new service to Manchester in addition to its existing flights to London Gatwick. This development aims to enhance air connectivity between Slovenia and the United Kingdom.
Starting November 4, Slovenian passengers will have direct access to Northern England with flights operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Departures from Ljubljana are scheduled for 10:10 on Tuesdays and 10:20 on Saturdays. The route will be served by a 186-seat Airbus A320 aircraft, with tickets available starting at €39 one-way through easyJet’s website.
easyJet operates from its base in Manchester, offering flights to 84 destinations across Europe and popular Mediterranean locations. Dr. Babett Stapel, Managing Director of Fraport Slovenija, commented on the new route: “The offer of low-cost connections from Ljubljana Airport continues to grow. We are delighted that easyJet has decided to build on our long-standing cooperation by introducing this new route. Flights to Manchester will make an important contribution to connectivity with the UK market — both by attracting tourists to Slovenia and by providing Slovenian travellers with more options for visiting the UK. The service will also support stronger business ties between our two countries.”
Ljubljana Airport saw an increase in public passenger traffic, handling over 151,000 passengers in May—a rise of 13.5% compared to May last year. From January through May, passenger traffic increased by 4.5% year-on-year, totaling over 528,000 travelers.
In addition to easyJet’s expansion, Latvian airline airBaltic announced a new route connecting Ljubljana and Gran Canaria starting this winter season as well. This service will operate once a week on Fridays using a 145-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft and is supported by government incentives aimed at improving Slovenia’s air connectivity.
