The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) recently expanded its key indices, the BET and BET-TR, to include 13 companies, making room for DIGI Communications, a major telecommunications provider in the region.

“Major companies shape the market in a major way,” BVB CEO Ludwik Sobolewski said in a press release. “New companies from new sectors are coming to the market, using the most up to date infrastructure we have already built to connect our marketplace with every investor, local or international, so that opportunities now present themselves at speeds and numbers like never witnessed before.”

DIGI Communications had the highest initial public offering of any company on the Romanian capital market in May this year, with an offering valued at $235.6 million. The BVB Index Committee decided to expand the indices for the second time since the exchange’s launch to include the company.

“The capitalization of all the companies listed on BVB exceeds ($42.1 billion), out of which more than ($22.7 billion) is represented by Romanian companies,” BVB Chairman Lucian Anghel said in the release. “DIGI was the largest private IPO from the history of the Romanian capital market, and the Index Committee decided to include this issuer in the main index of the stock exchange.”
