The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced the introduction of the euro as the official currency in Bulgaria. This change follows the National Euro Changeover Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria. The 50th National Assembly of Bulgaria adopted the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act during its session on August 7, 2024. The Act was promulgated in the State Gazette, issue 70, on August 20, 2024.

The BSE has detailed key areas and issues associated with adopting the euro within its operations. These details are available on the Exchange’s website.

The switch to the euro aims to align Bulgaria closer with economic standards in the European Union, signifying a significant step in the country’s economic journey.
