Bulgaria has been included for the first time in the OECD Corporate Governance Factbook 2025, joining Croatia and Romania as new participants in the biennial report. The Factbook, published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), reviews corporate governance laws, policies, and practices across 52 OECD and G20 economies.
The report is used internationally to compare how economies implement the OECD/G20 Principles of Corporate Governance. It examines areas such as the structure of governing bodies, investor protection, transparency, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, and sustainable finance. The 2025 edition also highlights the effects of digitalisation, the green transition, and market integration on corporate governance.
According to the release, “Bulgaria’s inclusion in the report represents significant international recognition of the country’s progress in building a stable and transparent corporate governance framework, as well as of the active role of its institutions in promoting transparency, accountability, and trust in the capital market. It marks an important milestone in Bulgaria’s accession process to the OECD, establishing the country as a reliable and predictable partner within the international financial community.”
