On December 7, the International Day of Civil Aviation, Bulgaria Air pilot Zlatina Batishteva appeared as a guest on the morning program “Bulgaria Morning” aired by Bulgaria ON AIR. During her appearance, she recounted her journey from a childhood dream to becoming a pilot two decades later. Batishteva discussed both the challenges and rewards associated with her profession.

She explained the process of becoming a pilot: “Initially a person has to pass a test for medical fitness, then they start a course – theoretical, practical, they have to take exams, and then become a pilot. Hard work and constant reading are the keys to success.” Batishteva emphasized that while initial steps were difficult, experience eventually made the job routine.

Batishteva highlighted the dedication required in her role at Bulgaria Air, including ongoing training and participation in emergency simulations. She noted an increase in female pilots: “Nowadays there are more and more women pilots and I am very happy about it. There are many good women pilots, and there are many good men pilots. It’s not about gender.”

The discussion concluded with Batishteva emphasizing the irreplaceable human factor in aviation despite advancements in artificial intelligence.

The full interview is available on Bulgaria ON AIR for those interested in pursuing their dreams.
