Foster youth participated in training for interviews during the seventh and final workshop of the “Budi svoj” project.

Additionally, those in attendance participated in the “Budi
izabran” (“Be chosen”) workshop on job interviews.

The youths were from foster homes and the Home for Children
and Youth, “Spomenak.” With the help of a guest lecturer from the
Vojvodjanska Banka Human Resources Department, the youths were guided through
the interview process. They learned how to write a resume, select
appropriate clothing for interviews and answer common interview questions.

The Serbian bank is a donor of the program, which is also
supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sport. The foundation Ukljuci se conducts
these trainings in a strategic partnership with the Ministry for Labor,
Employment, Social and Veteran’s issues.

The seven workshops are intended to benefit youths without
parental care and war veterans’ children. The participants range in age from 15
to 25.

Such workshops help prepare the youths for employment and self-employment
after they finish their regular education. Once they leave the system, they are essentially left alone with few resources.

The relevant ministry has announced that the young without
parental care will be defined as a separate category in 2017. Placing them in a separate category allows the ministry to budget funds for subsidies and encourage employers to hire and train the young people.
