Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD has announced the reopening of Burgas Airport on March 29, 2025, following essential renovation works. The airport was temporarily closed to allow for necessary runway maintenance aimed at enhancing operational performance and ensuring passenger safety during the upcoming busy summer season.
The maintenance project involved work on approximately 1,000 square meters of the runway and around 4,250 square meters of taxiway asphalt rehabilitation. This initiative is part of Fraport's long-term strategy for sustainable development and compliance with international safety and security standards.
Burgas Airport will resume operations with a flight from London Luton on March 29, followed by Ryanair’s scheduled flights from Warsaw and Krakow on March 30. The flight from Krakow is expected to be a highlight of the reopening celebrations as it symbolizes the start of the 2025 season by bringing the first tourists to Bulgaria’s Southern Black Sea coast. Representatives from local and national authorities, along with media personnel, are expected to attend the official event.
The airport management expressed its eagerness to welcome passengers back with high standards of service and comfort. "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD extends its gratitude to all partners for their support and understanding as the company continues to work hard in preparation for an exciting, travel-filled summer season."
