Romania recently attended the 43rd annual meeting of the OECD Network of Senior Officials from the Centre of Government (CoG) in Paris. The event took place at the OECD headquarters on March 4, 2025, under Spanish presidency.
The primary focus of this year's meeting was exploring the role of the Centre of Government within a new information environment. Attendees examined how these centers can strengthen public trust, informed by insights from the 2024 OECD study on trust factors in public institutions.
A significant part of the discussions revolved around the responsible use of artificial intelligence in public services. This included addressing challenges related to integrating new technologies into governmental functions.
Discussions also centered on a coherent government approach and enhancing institutional capacities for coordinating public administration actions. These were based on the OECD Recommendation on information integrity adopted in December 2024. The reforming of government public communication was another focal point.
Representing Romania, Mr Mihai Constantin, Spokesperson for the Government, emphasized "the importance of transparent and responsible government communication" and advocated for "a proactive and coherent governmental approach to maintaining information integrity."
The OECD Network provides an informal platform for senior officials to exchange ideas and best practices aimed at improving coordination in public policy implementation to achieve more effective governance.
