The Romanian Tourism Fair, now in its 51st edition, commenced on February 20 at the Romexpo Exhibition Center in Bucharest. Mihai Daraban, President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), attended the event's official opening. This year's fair, running from February 20 to 23, emphasizes Business2Business (B2B) interactions, providing a platform for industry professionals to connect with partners and suppliers.
Mihai Daraban highlighted the growth of this year's fair compared to previous editions. "This edition of the Romanian Tourism Fair has registered a substantial increase compared to last year. The exhibitors’ stands occupy 12,000 square meters, compared to only 8,582 square meters at the previous edition," he stated. He also noted a significant international presence with "a significant degree of internationalization, of 53%, there are 190 exhibitors, of which 100 are foreign."
Daraban expressed a desire for greater participation from Romanian companies and emphasized the need for increased promotion of Romania abroad. "We urgently need a promotional spot for Romania to run on TV stations abroad," he said. He stressed that "Romania needs at least 15% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to be generated by the tourism industry."
Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, also attended the fair. He emphasized reducing bureaucracy between operators and administration as essential for developing the tourism sector. Ivan advocated creating tourist profiles and promoting Romania in economically potent countries.
