As part of the FS-e-FUTURE project, Ljubljana Airport has begun implementing key infrastructure to support the electrification and decarbonization of its ground handling services. The first installation took place in December 2024, with four fixed electrical ground power units set up for external aircraft power supply. These units became operational in mid-January 2025.

The electrical ground power units consist of multiple components, including a unit on the airbridge frame connected to a fixed unit at the terminal steps via power and communication cables. Employees received training on how to use these new units. The implementation aims to provide electrical energy to aircraft during ground handling, thereby reducing emissions and reliance on auxiliary power units.

The technical specifications of these units include an operational temperature range from -20°C to +45°C, an output power of 90 kVA, a power factor of 0.8, and they operate at a voltage of 200/115 V with a frequency of 400 Hz.
