In 2025, Varna Airport and Burgas Airport are set to introduce unique open green terraces, an initiative by Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD. The Gate Garden concept aims to offer a distinctive customer experience with innovative retail, relaxation, and recreation areas. This environmentally sustainable project features open terraced green spaces with natural ventilation and sunlight, setting it apart in Europe.

A notable aspect of the design is the ability for passengers to board aircraft directly from the gates in these areas, extending the "open air terminal" experience. The concept is expected to reduce carbon emissions associated with construction and operation compared to traditional airport terminals. This investment reflects Fraport's commitment to modernizing Varna and Burgas Airports as attractive hubs for airlines and passengers.

The facilities are crucial for enhancing passenger service quality at both airports for Season 2025. They will also provide operational flexibility within the Schengen regime and expand shopping options amidst living vegetation under natural light. The terraces' location offers a central view of runway activities, adding excitement to the passenger experience.

The Gate Garden concept was showcased at Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference in Frankfurt, Germany, receiving positive acclaim.
