At the end of October, representatives from Bulgaria Air and Air Serbia met in Belgrade to continue their collaboration involving the lease of Embraer 190 aircraft. This partnership will see these aircraft used on Air Serbia's network of scheduled routes.
The meeting resulted in a new contract for leasing the aircraft for another year. Attendees included Hristo Todorov, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bulgaria Air, and Maria Stoyanova, General Manager of Charter Operations and Aircraft Leasing. Representing Air Serbia were CEO Jiří Marek, General Manager of Sales and Strategy Boško Rupić, and Head of Network Planning and Scheduling Bojan Arandjelović.
Both airlines discussed expanding their cooperation, agreeing that it would benefit both their aviation businesses and strengthen bilateral ties between Bulgaria and Serbia.
Bulgaria Air's aircraft will continue flying under the Serbian national carrier's code JU. However, they will maintain Bulgaria Air’s branding and crew uniforms featuring the Bulgarian flag.
This agreement marks ten years since the initial codeshare contract was signed for the Belgrade-Sofia-Belgrade route in 2014. The two airlines aim to consolidate their partnership further by expanding joint activities within civil aviation in the Balkans.
