Bucharest, November 5, 2024: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mihai Daraban, met with the new ambassador of Pakistan in Romania, Muhammad Arshad Jan Pathan. This meeting marked the ambassador's presentation visit.
Daraban highlighted the need to enhance economic cooperation between Romania and Pakistan, particularly in strategic sectors such as agriculture and the food industry. He pointed out that Romania primarily exports raw materials rather than processed food products. "The fair INDAGRA & INDAGRA FOOD, the biggest event of the agricultural industry and the food industry in the Eastern European region, has recently ended. In the future, it can represent a platform for Pakistani profile companies to identify potential business partners, from Romania and Europe," he stated. Daraban suggested that both countries should work on exchanging information and financing joint venture projects through export-import banks.
Ambassador Pathan expressed interest in collaborating with Romania in various fields. "Obviously, the agricultural sector represents a business opportunity for Pakistani entrepreneurs," he said. Additionally, he mentioned defense, aeronautics, and energy as areas of interest for bilateral cooperation. He noted Pakistan's nuclear energy production capacity of 20,000 MW and showed interest in partnering on major projects as Romania aims to become a regional energy hub.
