The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mihai Daraban, along with the general secretary Ovidiu Silaghi, attended the General Council meeting of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce (WCF) on October 14, 2024. The meeting took place in Istanbul during the first regional summit for Europe and Asia, focusing on "A collaborative approach to climate action."

During this event, Mr. Daraban engaged in discussions with Rifat Hisarciklioglu, President of the WCF; Philippe Varin, President of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); and Omer Bolat, Minister of Trade for Turkey. These talks emphasized Romania's role in promoting stability in the region by supporting sustainable trade routes among WCF member states.

"Through the membership of the World Chambers Federation, CCIR has access to a global network comprising more than 12 thousand chambers of commerce around the world," stated Mr. Daraban. He highlighted that this membership offers extensive opportunities for networking and collaboration with similar organizations worldwide. Mr. Daraban reiterated that Romania serves as an important pivot within the world chamber system and aims to enhance its role within the WCF.

"The WCF represents an international platform with the help of which the CCIR promotes the economic interests of Romania, facing a global audience," he added.
