Athens International Airport marked World Tourism Day by celebrating Greece's cultural heritage on September 27. The airport hosted a series of events under the theme "Cultural DestiNAtions," offering passengers and visitors an immersive experience in Greek history and traditions.
The festivities featured a traditional Greek coffee house setting, complete with olive trees and aromatic plants. Attendees received notebooks containing authentic Greek recipes and enjoyed performances of the "Karagiozis" shadow puppet theatre. An exhibition showcasing ancient Greek technology objects from the Kotsana Museum was also part of the day's activities.
A LED wall displayed quotes from notable Greek and international figures, while visitors participated in quizzes about customs from mainland Greece and its islands. A photobooth allowed participants to dress in traditional Greek costumes, and virtual reality offered a glimpse into the scenic beauty of Meteora.
The event concluded with a modern rendition of the syrtaki dance, accompanied by souvenir gifts that encapsulated the spirit and flavors of Greece. This celebration was organized in collaboration with Social Cooperative Enterprise PHELLOE.
