The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) has been honored by President Klaus Iohannis with the Order of “Industrial and Commercial Merit” in the rank of Officer. This recognition comes as the CCIR marks 160 years of continuous activity.
The award was given to the National Chamber "as a sign of special appreciation for the active contribution to the modernization of Romanian society from an economic, social and financial perspective, as well as for the consistent efforts made in order to promote and develop Romania’s commercial and investment relations."
"This distinction is a recognition of the constant efforts that the entire chamber system in Romania has made over time for a sustainable economic development. We are the leaders of an institution and a brand that can probably be found in all 193 countries that are part of the United Nations. It is the only brand of the business environment that finds its correspondent anywhere in the world. This must be found in a new approach of the political decision-maker towards the activity of the Romanian chamber system, a system that must be helped and supported more in the future if we want the 160 years of uninterrupted activity to continue. We will remain the same reliable partner of the Romanian business environment and the same dialogue partner for the political environment," stated Mihai Daraban, president of CCIR.
President Klaus Iohannis also commented on CCIR's role: "Over the years, CCIR has gone through moments of reevaluation, criticism and challenges, but it has kept its role as a link between public and private environment, between authorities and entrepreneurs, between national interests and global economic developments. Thus, the Chamber System must continue to demonstrate that it is capable and motivated to overcome various obstacles, showing that public-private partnership can work and generate trust in Romania as well. CCIR had an important contribution in facilitating international partnerships and collaborations and must, at the same time, continue support for companies with Romanian capital so that they can cross difficult periods, capitalizing on existing opportunities."
The remarks were made during a gala titled “For 160 years together for your business,” organized by CCIR on September 30.
