In the early hours of September 11, Bulgaria Air welcomed its fifth Airbus A220 aircraft at Sofia Airport. This new addition is an A220-100 model and arrived from the manufacturer's factory in Canada. The aircraft will serve medium-haul routes for both international and domestic destinations. It features eight business class seats and 110 economy class seats, with registration LZ-LIS, named after Lisbon.
The Airbus A220 aircraft offers several passenger amenities including larger windows compared to other single-aisle aircraft, wider economy class seats for more privacy, and a comfortable in-flight experience. The cabin is spacious and quiet with modular lighting, adaptive air conditioning, and optimized hand luggage compartments with the largest capacity in its category.
"L-LIS is among the first airlines in Europe to order seven Airbus A220 passenger aircraft in two modifications - A220-100 and A220-300," stated a company representative. "The delivery of the first four larger Airbus A220-300 aircraft started in June 2023, and now the first Airbus A220-100 has arrived."
The airline emphasized that its fleet renewal focuses on modernity, environmental friendliness, and economic efficiency. The new aircraft use up to 25% less fuel and emit fewer harmful emissions. Additionally, they have up to a 50% smaller noise footprint, making them suitable for urban area airports.
Bulgaria Air aims to offer passengers the best conditions for pleasant flights using its modern Airbus A220 fleet on scheduled routes starting from 2023.
