Bank of Greece issued the following announcement on Sept. 25
The Bank of Greece, in its continuing effort to further enhance the information disseminated to the public and to analysts, commences the publication of quarterly statistical data regarding the business of Credit Servicing Firms (CSFs) that are licensed according to the Bank of Greece Executive Committee’s Act 118/19.05.2017. In accordance with the Governor’s Act 2680/20.06.2017, the Bank collects on the basis of statistical methodology quarterly balance sheet data of CSFs as well as data on the loans they service and which have been transferred by domestic credit institutions to specialised foreign financial institutions. Included in these loans are loans that had been written-off by the credit institutions in the past and were not reported on their balance sheet.
In the second quarter of 2019, the nominal amount of loans serviced by domestic CSFs decreased; the loans serviced concern loans which have been transferred from domestic credit institutions to non-resident specialized financial institutions.
In particular, the total amount of loans serviced by CSFs decreased by €122 million in the second quarter of 2019 and stood at €17,448 million, compared with €17,570 million in the first quarter of 2019 (see relevant Table and Diagrams). It should be noted that the amount of loans serviced includes loans of an initial value of €9.380 million, which had been written-off by credit institutions and were not reported on their balance sheet.
Corporate loans
The nominal amount of corporate loans serviced decreased by €212 million to €5,027 million in the second quarter of 2019, compared with €5,239 million in the previous quarter. In further detail, the nominal amount of loans to non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased by €209 million to €4,989 million at the end of the second quarter of 2019. Out of these loans an amount of €3,508 million concerns loans to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The nominal value of loans to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries serviced by CSFs amounted to €38 million at the end of the second quarter of 2019, compared with €41 million at the end of the previous quarter.
Loans to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
The nominal value of the loans to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships serviced by the CSFs increased by €116 million to €2,049 million at the end of the second quarter of 2019.
Serviced loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions
The nominal amount of loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions serviced by the CSFs decreased by €26 million to €10,372 million at the end of the second quarter of 2019. More precisely, consumer loans decreased by €29 million to €9,994 million at the end of the second quarter of 2019. Housing loans decreased by €4 million to €361 million at the end of the second quarter of 2019.
