Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (PPA) has reopened its Perama floating dock, Piraeus I, after completing extensive repairs.
The Piraeus I floating dock is for ships up to 202 meters long and with a capacity of up to 40,000 tons, according to a press release on the PPA's website. It is one of four docks operated by the PPA specifically for the shipping industry; two are floating docks and two are dry docks. All four docks are open and fully operational.
In November, a new floating dock is expected to open, offering 80,000 tons of carrying capacity and 22,000 tons of lifting capacity. The new dock in the Perama Ship Repair Zone will also boost the economy by creating new jobs, the release said.
