Romanian nuclear power company SN Nuclearelectrica SA said that its Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 was intentionally and temporarily disconnected from the National Power System this month due to an issue with the unit.
Staff from the nuclear company worked to reduce sensitivity to the unit's turbogenerator excitation system, which was causing a disturbance in the energy system, according to a press release. The unit was slated to be connected back to the power system the same day.
Nuclearelectrica said that the power plant systems are working as designed and that the work on the Cernavoda unit has no impact on the safety of the reactor or the environment and population at large.
