The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) team took home second place at this year’s Bulgarian national programming competition for the second year in a row, finishing behind only Sofia University.
This year’s team consisted of Jimsher Skhirtladze, Emiljano Gjiriti, Euxhene Hasanaj, with professors Stoyan Bonev and Emil Kelevedjiev serving as coaches, according to a release from the university.
The competition, which is in its 24th year, challenged teams from universities throughout the country to solve 12 programming tasks over a five-hour session. To earn their silver medals, the AUBG team managed to complete seven of the 12 tasks, missing out on first place to Sofia University’s 10 completed tasks. The New Bulgarian University team finished in third, also managing to complete seven tasks but taking longer to do so than the AUBG team.
