Postbank has been named the Greenest Bank in Bulgaria in The Greenest Companies in Bulgaria contest held by b2b Media.
Postbank won based on investing in sustainable practices in both its business processes and in reducing consumption of resources, according to a press release on the bank's website.
"The primary focus in our corporate social responsibility policy is on sustainable business development, as we continue to be a leader among the banking institutions in the development of environmental protection programs. We are still the only bank, which has a volunteer unit -- our 'Green Heroes' -- who support all efforts of the institution to become more responsible in resource consumption," a Postbank official said in the release.
Postbank has its own Green Board and Environmental Office unit that works to cut back on environmental impact created by the bank. The Green Board finds ways to save energy, reduce water and paper usage, recycle paper, toner and computer equipment and other things that can ultimately help the environment, the release states. The board members also arrange outdoor activities for bank employees.
The bank also invests in making its buildings energy efficient and supports efforts to clean polluted outdoor areas.
The b2b Media awards have taken place for the past seven years. The awards honor the most environmentally friendly companies, whether the firms are small or large.
