The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) board of trustees recently appointed Princess Maria Luisa of Bulgaria and Rumyana Trencheva, SAP Southeast Europe managing director, to its ranks at a two-day board meeting.
Princess Maria Luisa has supported the university for years, according to an AUBG release on the meeting.
Trencheva graduated from AUBG in 2000 and has since made a name for herself in prominent multinational companies. In her current role with SAP, she oversees the company’s operations in 10 countries. Their appointments to the Board come following two resignations, which the board accepted with sadness.
The University Council also had three open positions due to resignations, which were filled by Elvin Guri, Ilya Lingorski and Petia Dimitrova. The board reelected Tom Bird, Chris von Christierson, Dimiter Christof, David Flanagan, John Gulliver and Yoto Yotov to the University Council.
The meeting saw Professor Ivan Manev reelected to the chairmanship, in which he will serve a second three-year term, and Steven F. Sullivan appointed interim president of AUBG. The board also voted to accept an audit report from Deloitte on its financial statements for 2016, to appoint internal auditors for 2017 to 2019 and to appoint Deloitte as its external auditor again for the same period, according to the release.
