UniCredit Bulbank retiree Snezhanka Yovcheva has won the Ambassador of Volunteering award at The Heroes 2017, an event by volunteering platform BulgariaTimeHeroes.org.
The Heroes 2017 recognizes deeds and practices that are inspiring, brave, innovative or that benefit the community or have an otherwise positive effect on others, according to a press release on the bank's website.
Levon Hampartzoumian, CEO of UniCredit Bulbank, presented awards to the winners of the Ambassador category.
“My work as a volunteer began in the National Volunteer Program of UniCredit Bulbank, Yovcheva said. "Volunteering helped me during the transition from active work to a calmer life of a pensioner. This is the most suitable time to become a volunteer: At this point we have already fulfilled all other life obligations that we have. I wish that next year there will be not only young people at the volunteer awards ceremony, but also more gray-haired people."
Yovcheva has a doctorate in economics and retired from the bank two years ago. She volunteers at the I Can Too Foundation twice a week and has also helped sort foods in the storehouse of Bulgarian Food Bank.
