One of the hottest new startups coming out of the Balkan region is Bastet Noir, a shop that's revolutionizing the export of fashion design around the world.
In just three years, Bastet Noir has gone from a newborn startup with three local designers to an established marketplace collaborating with dozens of international design firms to offer shoppers custom options for fashion orders.
“What helped me get started was the support from my family and the passion I've always had as a kid for fashion,” Bastet Noir’s founder, Daniela Milosheska, told Balkan Business Wire. “I think it's important to work on your passion, because when things get though as they usually do, it's the only thing that will keep you sane and give you the strength to work extra hard to make it. Courage is what gets you started, but passion is the thing which takes you places you've never even imagined you could reach.”
Milosheska said having the right partners helped her to springboard Bastet Noir toward eventual success.
“Surrounding yourself with the right people to work with is always the most important ingredient for a company's success,” Milosheska said. “Loyalty, creativeness, being able to trust someone that will do the job you needed to be done, and execute the tasks with professionalism and on time is what makes or breaks a company.”
She also stressed the value of good customer service.
Milosheska said being based in Macedonia helps the country because of a lower tax burden and relatively cheap production prices. Part of Milosheska’s original vision, according to an early Huffington Post interview, was to help designers in the Balkans to get more visibility for their products, and Bastet Noir remains an example of economic innovation coming from this part of the world.
What's in Bastet Noir’s future?
“We see ourselves as becoming the leading e-commerce shop for custom-made fashion,” Milosheska said. “We want to make pieces which will be personalized items for each and every customer, clothing items that will have a story threaded in them. We want to elevate the customer shopping experience to another level.”
