A team of students from American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) has won the CFA Research Challenge in Bulgaria and will move on to the global finals of the competition later this month.
A team from AUBG has won the Bulgarian competition two years in a row.
“This is the second year the challenge was held in Bulgaria and second time AUBG team won, and I believe it just says a lot about the quality of education at AUBG,” Iryna Bedovska, a student on the winning team, said in a press release. "The reason AUBG students stand out both in competitions and on the job market is the quality of education. Of course the quality of courses here is excellent, but besides the hard skills AUBG also teaches soft skills: public speaking, ability to work in teams, even business etiquette.”
Teammate Anatoly Prekrasnyy said the team felt a lot of pressure to do well.
“For our team it was a little bit stressful to participate, because everybody expects only the highest quality of work from AUBG students, and therefore, being under the spotlight entailed a lot of responsibility and pressure,” Prekrasnyy said in the release. “Not many students have done company valuation before at the level that we have. Also, unlike us, for many participating teams it was the first time that they had to do such a comprehensive, intensive project fully in English. Also, the academic and professional background of Professor Gurov was definitely an advantage, as he helped us to focus on the things that really matter."
