The National Bank of Romania is issuing a silver collectible coin marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer and pianist Dinu Lipatti.
The coin has a face value of 10 Lei and is made of silver.
The obverses side has an image of a piano, a symbol of Dinu Lipatti’s performance art, plus the word “ROMANIA” in an arc. It also features the face value, the year, and the Romanian coat of arms.
The back of the coin has a portrait of Lipatti, along with his birth year, 1917, and death year, 1950, plus his name in an arc.
The silver coins are offered in clear plastic containers to preserve them. A leaflet includes information about the coin, as well as a certificate of authenticity. Only 200 of these coins have been minted. The coins are available for 355 Lei, excluding value-added tax.
While the coins are collectible, they are also considered legal tender in Romania.
