The removal procedure for Panagia Tinou, an abandoned vessel in the
Piraeus Port Authority's (PPA)
jurisdiction, was recently completed in accordance with the timeline for the
project’s tender.
The ship removal was undertaken by ANTIPOLLUTION, which will ultimately move the ship abroad. Prior to
removing the ship from Piraeus’ passenger port, ANTIPOLLUTION lifted and
stabalized it and procured all necessary cross-border licenses for the
removal project, according to a PPA press release.
To date, PPA has overseen more than 100
abandoned and semi-sunken vessels removals from its area of authority. In doing so, PPA
is improving its environmental impact, keeping abreast of European and
international environmental standards and making its port more navigable, according to the release.
